Is there something that I can eat to counteract the acid or Vitamin C in my system?

If I eat too much citris, have fresh pinapple or drink lemon water I get sores in my mouth. The same thing happened when I tried taking a vitamin C suppliment. How can I avoid the sores and still enjoy citris?

Is there something that I can eat to counteract the acid or Vitamin C in my system?
you can't. just don't eat so much of it. the acid is bad for you anyways. imagine what it does to your stomach if your mouth turns out like that.

Fact and Sam are correct... If you install XP, it will have drivers automatically for you... you can even go to windowsupdate.com on IE (the one time you have to use IE unless there a hack for firefox I dont know about)...

or find out who makes the drivers and go to their website or search yahoo for them...

so basically, just get XP
Reply:you can download it from the acer site
Reply:u can probably dl the driver online at the manufacturer site
Reply:I have an acer too u might want to use e-recovery on the empower go there and click on restore then restore sysytem to factoring setting. It will ahve all ur drivers and other stuff. U can also made a dvd from there.

Can 1/2" drywall be applied to a 2 foot O/C floor joist system, without sag appearing??

T.J.I. - Top and bottom 1 1/2" laminate ply with OSB between.

Or do I have to use 1/2" strapping to 16" or 12" O/C, or go to 5/8 firerated drywall??

Can 1/2" drywall be applied to a 2 foot O/C floor joist system, without sag appearing??
Yes. But ad this step for a better finish. Install 1X4s perpendicular to the joist with nails on 16 inch centers. Then run a string from one side to the other to check for dips and bows in the ceiling. Tap the 1X4s to align them then install drywall. you'll have a perfectly flat ceiling with sufficient support.
Reply:why not run a 2 x 4 from beam to beam but level with the ceiling so you can then nail to the 2 x 4 in the middle. put the 2 inch side down not the 4 inch.
Reply:go 5/8 because 1/2 will definately sag
Reply:5/8 drywall is definitely the way to go, though you should probably block between your joists at the tapered seems of the drywall
Reply:sure, we use 1/2 inch all the time on truss ceilings that are 2 feet o/c. the old sheet rock from 20 years ago did sag, but not anymore

What was the song "P.L.U.C.K" by System of a Down written about?

I need to know why that song was written and the events it was written about. I think it has something to do with Turkey or Armenistan or something like that but I'm not sure. Why did System of a Down write the song and what's it about? 10 pts. best answer.

What was the song "P.L.U.C.K" by System of a Down written about?
System of a Down was always VERY anti-war. Pretty much evey song they wrote had (even if it was hidden) a meaning that was about wars and how they are ruining us.

I am using a full version of Microsoft Visual C# on a school PC... why is there no System.Draw namespace?

It's Visual Studio 2005, presumably with all the C# components installed. When I use System.Draw, it says it can't find it. When I look at the dropdown after typing:

using System.

the list does not contain Draw. Is there a way I can get this System.Draw namespace installed onto the computer, or is it part of the administrator's installation of Visual Studio / Visual C#?

Can I format my "C drive" without wiping out my system files? If so How?

All the programs on my C drive is slowing my laptop down. I want to format it, but I am afraid that I will wipe-out my system files.

Can I format my "C drive" without wiping out my system files? If so How?
The use of the term "format" is to wipe out a disk completely, so no you can't format your C:\ and expect your system files to remain intact.

The previous answer is a good start to tweak your pc to gain some speed. I will suggest also to:

1) Run a spyware, malware, and antivirus software

2) Defrag your disk

3) type "msconfig" at the start%26gt;run and check what programs are been activated and running at startup. Disable all crap you have there that is not needed. Make sure you leave your firewall and antivirus intact, but take out programs that you can manually activate when needed.

Last resort would be to format your hd and install the operating system for a clean install. Get Norton Ghost and make an image of your prestine os and keep it for future times. This will save you time when formatting the hd again in the future.
Reply:Have you tried disc clean-up or de-frag?"

go to ALL PROGRAMS

accessories

system tools

disc clean-up or disc defragmenter

Will help
Reply:nope, its impossible... when you say format it would automatically remove all the files in your drive!

you can try to remove unnecessay programs and documents in your drive in the add/remove programs and then go defragment your drive in START%26gt;ACCESSORIES%26gt;SYSTEM TOOLS%26gt;DEFRAGMENT...

hope this helps you...

I Want to Connect from C# application to Sql on another system?

i made a application in C# and now i want share database one system (like server) and application in other system in Lan can connect to this sql

i prefer to work sql2000

I Want to Connect from C# application to Sql on another system?
Yes you can do that but you have to create a database on other machine and change your Connection String accordingly.
Reply:The connection class that is used to connect to sql server takes connection-string as parameter.

you can change the connection string to make your application connect to SQL server on another machine.

best way would be if you make this connection string configurable through app.config file; then you won't have to recompile the code and just changing the connection-string in app.config file would enable your application to connect to any server on the LAN.

change the connection string

You'd be better of buidling one for yourself. Mostly you don't even need all the functions such system has and you can build it more to your own needs. Just try making a simple cms which manages your news, page content and newsletter or something and then make it so you can easyily add new modules, u probably will need to build the core of such system

Write a C program in a Unix Operating System to count number of word in a file.?

Write a C program in a Unix Operating System to count number of word in a file. The main process will read from the user the file name and a positive number N which represents the number of lines in this file. Accordingly, the main process will greate N processes. E#ach process i will count and print the numbe of words in i-th line of the input file, where 1%26lt;= i %26gt;=n. The children processes should be implemented using the system call exec. Finally, the main rocess should print out the total number of words in the input file.

Write a C program in a Unix Operating System to count number of word in a file.?
That sounds like a homework problem to me.. albeit an interesting one. While you are at it, remember that given a sufficiently large value of N, you could hose the box with too many execs.

I will abstain from trying to code it since I am a bit short of time. but briefly, I would approach this problem thus

- A method that takes a line and counts the number of words in it

- There should be a global counter for words in the file.

- the method mentioned above should enter a synchronous block to update this global counter

- The main program should invoke N such threads and to each thread, pass the ith line in the file.

- Each of the threads should invoke the method mentioned above.

- Once each thread returns, the main method should output the global count

My 2 cents!

You can get your answer in this question's answers...

http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind...
Reply:You can't go wrong with GCC. Whether it's using Cygwin (which I don't recommend for reasons I'll state later), Dev-Cpp (a good IDE), and MinGW you'll be using the Gnu Compiler (GCC).

If you are new to C and programming in general, I would suggest using an IDE like Dev-Cpp to write your source and for the benefits of an IDE like syntax highlighting. I would suggest for you not to compile your source in the IDE, though. The best way to learn what you are doing is by compiling from the command-line. For this to work effectively, you would need to place 'C:\Dev-Cpp\bin' in your systems path.

Btw, I don't use Cygwin anymore because any binaries you compile with it inherently falls under the GPL. I have no problem with the GPL but there are other license issues that may arise from this restriction; namely I might wish to release some gear under a BSD style license. To avoid license issues which you may not understand just yet, just stay clear of Cygwin.

edit: With 'c:\dev-cpp\bin' in your path you can still download the MinGW compiler and program from that command-line isntead of using MS's command-line. It gives you a nice little Unix feel for things.

Also Microsoft are offering "Express" editions of Visual Studio, built on .NET etc. You could give that a try.

Here's What You Need to Use Windows XP Professional

• PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended

• 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)

• CD-ROM or DVD drive

• Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

Hey, what R the minimum reqs as far as RAM and process speed to run Win XP?where do i look 2 C if system can?
128mb ram minimum, 256 recommended

either 1ghz or faster processor. u should be able to find this on microsoft.com
Reply:Windows XP installation cd includes a compatibility tester program to check if your computer can run it, but anyway I think 128 MB in Ram and 400 Mhz in Processor are enough.

Right click on "My Computer" and select properties. It will show you what your system has. If this is a retail unit then you could go to the manufacturers website and look it up by either model#, or serial#.

Iam having dual booting system with millennium installed in c:drive and windows xp proffesional installed in D

am having dual booting system with millennium installed in c:drive and windows xp proffesional installed in D:drive.

I want to format c drive and install millennium again so that i do not want to reinstall windows xp proffesional what should

be done to correct the boot loader so as when I boot up my PC,it will prompt me whether I want to go for millennium or XP.

I don`t want reinstall windows XP.

Iam having dual booting system with millennium installed in c:drive and windows xp proffesional installed in D
what u do is

1. just go to root of C:\ drive and find the file BOOT.INI then copy it to some other location i mean like in other drive so that after re-installing your ME u can recover it

2. Format and install ME on your C:\ drive

3. Go to the location where u save the boot.ini file and copy it again to its original place i mean from where u picked it up so then go to run... in start menu and run this command

"msconfig.exe" or simply "msconfig" then when it comes then in first ever tab select the latter option i mean the 3rd option that is to boot from the file boot.ini then go to the boot.ini tab and check if it shows both partition and both OS if no then go to the place of boot.ini open it up in notepad compy its contents and paste it in the place of boot.ini in the msconfig dialog then save everything and boot again i hope it will make your day

and i tell u never listen to the guys who says that u should install both Os in same drive or formatting a drive wont let u run the other OS or something like that. if someone says like that then they just havent done anything and they just do what they have seen others doin and havent ever done anything by their own.

so if u want to learn anything and go ahead and experiment with your own computer if u worried about your comptre then certainly there are public computers and cafes and computers at offices too........

:D

;)

so go ahead.........happy R %26amp; D
Reply:When you install to different os on the same system, they have to be on the same hard drive in order for the system to give you the prompt to choose which os to boot. If they are on seperate hard drives, the system will just simply go for the os that is on the Primary/Master hard drive. The secondary hard drive will just be seen as a 2nd/spare hard drive to the bios and will just continue to boot from the 1st hard drive. I belive that there is some 3rd party software out there that can interact with your bios to give you that option.

But to answer your question, I would normally just unplug the drive that you dont want to accidently format, untill you get windows installed on the other drive.
Reply:Formatting c: and reinstalling ME will erase the dual boot info in the MBR. You will no longer have the choice to use XP, even though d:\windows is still there.

Just partition and reformat c: and install ME - XP will disappear.
Reply:Boot using the XP CD after you have ME reinstalled, but go to the recovery console, and do a "fix mbr", that should reinstall the XP bootloader.
Reply:you can try repairing (start to install and in the options set to repair)you windows millenium instead of reinstalling it after you fomat your c:

i don't think that you can work with your xp after you format c:

Will you briefly (within 5 sentences) tell me how the Magna Carta affected the U.S. C.J. system?

The Magna Carta was a major step towards "due process" and "rule of law".

Due process means that legal decisions are based upon facts presented by both sides before any decisions are made. People can not be penalized first and then have their case argued later. This has been developed to include the rights to jury trial, reasonable bail, and public defenders.

Rule of Law means that decisions are made using consistent rules that apply to all. We follow rules even if they are always in our favor and expect others to follow the rules even when they are not in their favor.

Will you briefly (within 5 sentences) tell me how the Magna Carta affected the U.S. C.J. system?
The main thing is that it guaranteed trial by jury--a jury of one's peers.

How do you get rid of a bad smell coming from a car's A/C vent system?

Take some Lysol disinfectant spray. Run the car's vent system at full blast. With the motor running and vent blowing, spray the Lysol in the intake vents, which are close to the windshield wiper bases. This typically gets rid of the mold and mildew and leaves the passenger compartment smelling fresh and new - for a few weeks at least.

How do you get rid of a bad smell coming from a car's A/C vent system?
find out where your in cabin filter is located and replace it.....if there is mold on the coils themselves then thats a lot more work.
Reply:It's probably water that has mildewed inside the housing. You could take it to a dealership and they would clean up all the mold growing in there.

Reply:If your car has a cabin filter, then have it changed

Im going to formate my hard drive and found out that i have two local c and system_sav d can i delete them?

It might be a good idea to find out what is on the d partition. Most Dell high end pc's come from the factory with an image of ur c/drive O.S. which makes it very easy and quick to reinstall ur windows O.S. U don't want to reformat that if u have it because once u loose it, it can't be replaced. Clik start%26gt;right clik my computer%26gt;clik manage%26gt;clik disc management and it will show all ur partitions, then right clik the d partition and it shud give u some idea whats on it. If there's nothing u need on the d partition this is the place to delete it. Then insert ur windows disc (make sure u can boot from ur rom) and in the installation process windows will reformat ur drive for u. just follow it along and answer a few questions.

Since you have 2 partitions (C: and D:), when you are trying to format, it will ask you which drive you want to format.

C: will contains your OS, windows, linux, etc...

If you feel that there is no need to format your D: drive, you can always format the C: alone.

Isn't it sad how the death penalty is being abolished in different states b/c the system is more concerned->

About whether the killer is suffering when he is put to death? HELLO!!!!!!! Since when are the rights of killers more important??? Did they think they should be given a party with balloons? Or tickle them with a feather as their punishment? There is a reason why they are being put to death. they killed innocent lives without remorse without any pity for their victims. Doesn't anyone notice that Eurpoe has been suffering major crime problems since abolishing the Death Penalty? This society in general is becoming more %26amp; more wimpy when it comes to handling killers. Don't be suprise dto see killings %26amp; crime going up for states that abolish the death penalty.

Isn't it sad how the death penalty is being abolished in different states b/c the system is more concerned-%26gt;
soon we will be prosecuting the victims and spoiling the rapists..
Reply:You don't have to sympathize with criminals or want them to avoid a terrible punishment to ask if the death penalty prevents or even reduces crime and to think about the risks of executing innocent people. Your question is much too important to settle without looking at these things.

125 people on death rows have been released with proof that they were wrongfully convicted. DNA is available in less than 10% of all homicides and isn’t a guarantee we won’t execute innocent people.

The death penalty doesn't prevent others from committing murder. No reputable study shows the death penalty to be a deterrent. To be a deterrent a punishment must be sure and swift. The death penalty is neither. Homicide rates are higher in states and regions that have it than in those that don’t.

We have a good alternative. Life without parole is now on the books in 48 states. It means what it says. It is sure and swift and rarely appealed. Life without parole is less expensive than the death penalty.

The death penalty costs much more than life in prison, mostly because of the legal process which is supposed to prevent executions of innocent people.

The death penalty isn't reserved for the worst crimes, but for defendants with the worst lawyers. It doesn't apply to people with money. When is the last time a wealthy person was on death row, let alone executed?

The death penalty doesn't necessarily help families of murder victims. Murder victim family members across the country argue that the drawn-out death penalty process is painful for them and that life without parole is an appropriate alternative.

Problems with speeding up the process. Over 50 of the innocent people released from death row had already served over a decade. If the process is speeded up we are sure to execute an innocent person.
Reply:It is called liberalism, they are more concerned with killing babies, and terrorist being tortured, and the rights of convicted murderers, then the rights of the victims, and then they complain about prison over-population.
Reply:I don;t agree with the Death Penalty particularly, but if it is to be abolished I hope we see the first example being set by our friends the murderers. Can't remember which Senator said that, but it makes sense.
Reply:Unfortunately that's how the laws are these days...the people who murder, or kill are put in prison which is like being in a country club. The more money you have, the more you can get away with....example - O.J. Simpson. So what you are saying is it's okay for these people to kill others %26amp; we need to worry about how the lethal injection hurts them??? What is wrong with you? Say it was someone in your family that got cut up into little pieces by some weirdo...how would you feel about it then? Ya think they shouldn't suffer...okay, shoot them, that's quick n painless. Yes electrocution was horrible but an injection is nothing. I have no sympathy for killers that inflict horrible pain %26amp; suffering on their victims who have no rights the way the judicial system is today. Oh...they're dead so they can't testify but y'all are concerned about the killers feelings??It is very true...every country that has abolished the death penalty has had an increase in crime. Why??? Because they know they will go to prison, watch TV, movies, go to the gym, go swimming %26amp; eat better meals than most of us do. If you truly believe killers have rights too, then I feel sorry for you. You need to open your eyes %26amp; look at the truth. The lady %26amp; guy from Ohio who killed that little girl in Texas %26amp; kept her body (which was cut-up) in a tote in a shed at their house before they dumped it....Should they be exempt too???
Reply:I think the victims family should mandate the punishment, not the courts, and secondly, It should only be allowed IF dna or Actual Witnesses can prove the crime....I don't want to see crimminal's walk, but everyone is entitled too a fair trial.

even the bad guys.
Reply:Oh man, I so agree. I think that putting them down using any HUMANE form is just too good. How about killing them the way they did their victims. For example, if they raped and then shot their victim, then maybe they should have to suffer through that same punishment. Absolutely ridiculous to get rid of the death penalty because it causes suffering to the killer. Well, hell, he should have thought about that before he cut someone up. Freaking lunatic politicians trying to make themselves look good, when all they are doing is saying, "Hey, it's okay, commit murder, we'll just house and feed you for free for the rest of your life. So stupid. I personally think the death penalty that is in place (for the states that still have it) is too good for the common murderer.
Reply:Indeed. The UK abolished both guns and the death penalty and the murder rate in Britain is growing ever larger. Not to mention other violent crimes, like rape.
Reply:There are many other concerns. A death row prisoner is much more expensive to house than a lifer. They get more appeals and cost the state huge legal fees. Also, some innocent are killed. etc, etc.
Reply:I really don't like it when people say that we are executing innocent people; so therefore, the death penalty should be abolished. We are only talking about executing guilty people for their crimes. We should also be talking about finding ways of executing guilty, rich murderers for their crimes also, instead of concentrating on abolishing what is just punishment for heinous crimes. Who says that 'life with parole' is adequate punishment? Who thought THAT one up?

Who says that the death penalty doesn't deter crime? How many people think about society's penalties before doing something evil? Honestly, I have...and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

No, the death penalty to me has nothing to do with revenge! It's justice! Is a life worth only 15 years in prison? Welcome to Germany where you can murder someone and probably get off with a minimum of 10 years....maximum is 15 years even though they call it 'life' in prison.

My life and the lives of my loved ones is worth more than 10 years in prison...thank you very much!
Reply:I completely agree with you...We are fast becoming a nation of liberal sissies. What can we do about it? Constantly check the voting records of politicians. If you don't like their voting records, get involved in the political process and promote a better candidate.

All politicians need to be reminded who they work for.
Reply:"Don't be suprise dto see killings %26amp; crime going up for states that abolish the death penalty."

That argument hasnt ever held up. the facts are that states with the highest percent or murders per 100,000 are all states that use the death penalty.

look up the facts yourself

http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/data/table...

These are the massive problems with the death penalty:

#1. the fact that we have a 1 in 35 error rate. (3440 people on death row, 1096 have been executed, 125 have been exonerated after being found innocent.

#2. States do not want justice, they want closure. If states wanted justice, then every single piece of evidence that comesto light after a person has been executed should re-open the case. States/judges refuse to open cases to look at this new information.

#3. Its a barbaric outdated process. 194 countries in the world, 133 have abolished the death penalty.

#4. costs. It costs far more to execute someone, then to keep them locked up in some super max prison for 60 years. This has been well documented in every state.

#5. Plead guilty=serve life in prison

plead innocent=face the death penalty

THis is simply not a choice. Do you honestly trust the justice system enough to prove your innocense, or do you take the path that wont end in your death? Im sorry, but given this choice, and the amount of unbelievable errors in our system, i would plead guilty.

Until we can fix those issues, we cannot continue to support the death penalty.
Reply:You and I have no more right saying who is fit to live and whom to die in this life than we do who will be saved and who not in the afterlife. Human ego and hubris oversteps its bounds in capital punishment, and I for one am delighted to see the law acknowledge that right to life is more important than your desire to hurt people.

Peace
Reply:Should a gov. that can't fill a pothole right be allowed to determine life or death?

A life sentence is reversible, dp is not
Reply:Highly unlikely

Except for extreme circumstances all civilized nations abolished the death penaly a long time ago. In America the first nation to do that was Venezuela in the 1800's.
Reply:It does seem a bit silly. An execution probably can never be made pleasant.

But those who argue against lethal injection or electrocution are, at bottom, trying to see to it that we remain civilized about it.

I strongly doubt that they are sympathetic to child rapist/killers, for instance.

Still, the law ought to establish the point that it is impossible to abolish all unpleasantness for the condemned.

Let's just make it quick and get it over with.

edit: another suggestion. let's not execute these people as a form of punishment, but only because those of us who value human life have the RIGHT to remove them from the face of the Earth quickly and permanently. (I know the law doesn't really express this right, but it should)

Let's also cremate the body and dump the ashes in the ocean. No grave. Just get rid of them.

But we need to be careful about false convictions. If a massive overhaul of the rules of evidence and trial procedure is necessary for this, then so be it. Let's get it done.

Your computer is like a lamp and "Windows" is like the light bulb. If a light bulb is burned out you might want to exchange it by yourself or call an electrician. If you don't know to reinstall "Windows" on your PC ask someone who does.

Don't worry Thia is easy to fix, just put the Windows install disk into your CD and then when it boots up select the "REPAIR" option. This will help you.

How can I allot more space to my system's C Drive?

My C Drive is running out of space(only 2.73GB is alloted). I want to allot more space. How can I do it? I am only 12 and do not know more about computers. Please help meeeee!

How can I allot more space to my system's C Drive?
Hi, Call the Tech Guy to do this, it is not easy.

If the Tech Guy says to u that he must format ur computer totally to get free space, u suggest the Tech Guy to get a Partition Magic program http://www.symantec.com/partitionmagic/ using this program or similar parition resizing programs.

You can resize ur "C" drive without affecting ur Operating system and other installed programs, but this is little bit risky process need to be done carefully.

Good Luck..

Reply:You cannot "allot" more space. There is only so much to be had. You could "Zip" some of the larger files you have that you don't use, and "unzip" them if you ever need them. Most programs claiming to give you more room really slow your system down. Larger hard drives are cheap now. If you have an open (unused) drive bay in your computer (desktop, a laptop won't have one) you can add a drive. You can now get huge drives for under $100.

http://www.cnet.com is a good site for this. They have a lot of good advice.

So does newegg.com, and tigerdirect.com.

You could ask the people who sold you the computer, but if you buy online you will save a lot of money.

If you get a big new drive, you can just transfer your whole old drive to it, and make your new drive your "C" drive, and keep life simple. Or you can have two drives, a C and a D drive, but it will take some doing that might confuse you.

Another thing that you can do with a huge drive is "Partition it." This breaks it up, by software, into smaller "logical drives," which work just like completely separate drives. You could keep pictures in one, songs in another, movies in another...

Get the magazine "Smart Computing in Plain English." It is at many libraries. It tells in simple language how to do these things.

Stay with me for one more thing.

You can get an "Outboard Drive," a USB drive that just plugs into your computer. That is not as good a solution as these others, but it is simpler. You plug it into your computer, and plug it into power, and it should recognise it. It will run slower than a drive in your computer. If you play games, it is important. You could have logical drives on it. I have one for "Backup."

Once a month I copy files onto it, in case I have a problem with my computer's harddrive, I can use it. To do that I made it bootable - my computer can start off of it (it has the Operating System on it - probably a Windows XP for you).

I hope that you are not hiding under your bed now. The magazine will help. Feel free to write me, and I will clear up what I can, okay?

Read this more than once, there is a lot here.

PS: If you have never done it, go into your computer and delete all of the files with the extension .tmp (at the end of the file name). Everytime you go on the internet your computer stores temporary files - you don't need them, and they fill it up! After this (and it will take a while), go into "Help" in the pulldown menu at the top of the page, find out how to "defragment" your hard drive, and do it. If you do these two things,

you will have more room, and they cost $0.

If there are applications that you will never use, uninstall them, or archive them (makes them smaller).

Phew! I'm gonna hide under the bed!

Reply:"put your windows cd in the cd-rom and choose new partition." - this is rubbish. Defragmenting will not get much if any disk space back. Disk Cleanup doesn't turn up much free space often.

If you have the original software for games and programs get your CD's out. Use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall only those games and programs you have the disks for. Reinstall those games and programs: watch out for when you're asked where to install. Change C:\Prgram Files\ to another drive later, D: or E:

If you only have a C: drive and CD drive (D:) then you will either need to remove some games or programs and do without to get the space back or have another drive added to you PC to give you more space.
Reply:you could change the partition easily with a program called partition magic. or you could just install a new hard drive.
Reply:put your windows cd in the cd-rom and choose new partition.

Goto:

Start-%26gt;Run-%26gt;msconfig

Click on tab: boot.ini; click on: Check all boot paths.

Follow the instructions and all will be well.
Reply:You need to do that in bios

As the pc boot up look forr prompts to push a function key.

From their you can change the boot sequence.
Reply:The simple answer is to right click my computer and select advanced. In startup and recovery set the time delay to 0 seconds. Totally safe, no risk to any data. You can use the second drive to install programmes to and for data storage.
Reply:check out the boot.ini file in the root directory c:. Be careful if you edit it wrong you can have problems...
Reply:There are two methods of resolving this problem and freeing up the hard drive space taken up by the unused installation, but they depend on your level of expertise, the time you have and whether you have a retail version of Windows XP.

If you have a copy of your Windows XP CD, use either of the two methods listed below.

If you do not have a copy of your Windows XP CD, use the "Fast but Awkward" method

Print these instructions out before attempting either method. Read and understand each point before any attempt is made at correcting your problem.

Easy, but Time-Consuming Method

(The "Fast but Awkward Method" is shown below)

The instructions for this method assume that you have a retail copy of XP on CD.

1. Start Windows and choose the installation that is currently working from the Boot Menu and continue into Windows.

2. IMPORTANT: Backup up all your documents because the next steps will completely erase your hard drive, so all data will be lost forever unless you back it up first.

3. Now put your Windows XP CD in the drive and restart the computer.4. You'll see a "Welcome to Setup" page, press ENTER to continue. Then press F8 to accept the Windows XP Licensing Agreement. If an existing Windows XP installation is detected, you are prompted to repair it. Press ESC (DO NOT REPAIR).

5. Now select a partition with Windows installed and press D to delete an existing partition. You must then press L (or press ENTER, and then press L if it is the System partition) to confirm that you want to delete the partition. Repeat this process for each of the existing partitions. When all the partitions are deleted, you can then select the resulting un-partitioned space and then press C to create the new partition.

6. Type the size (in megabytes, or MB) that you want to use for the new partition, and then press ENTER, or just press ENTER to create the partition using the maximum size.

7. Create additional partitions if you want to (if you created two more partitions they will become drive D and E in the new Windows installation but they will be empty).8. Use the arrow keys to select the partition you want to install Windows XP on, and then press ENTER.

9. Select the format option that you want to use for the partition, and then press ENTER, i.e. FAT32 or NTFS and continue with the installation. FAT32 is an old file system that came before XP. NTFS is a file system left over from Windows 2000. If you're unsure use NTFS. Windows XP will install on the partition and then you'll be prompted to restart.

Note: If you have an Upgrade version of XP, you will be prompted for qualifying media during the installation process. This means that you will have to insert a CD-ROM with a previous version of Windows on it, i.e. Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows 98 etc. (Windows setup needs to confirm that you own a previous version of Windows in order for you to qualify for the upgrade.) If you do have a CD-ROM with a previous version of Windows then install that first on the new partition (and use FAT32) .

10. After a reboot all should be well!

Fast but Awkward Method

Here's a quick way to replace two copies of Windows XP from your system with one working copy. It may look like a lot of steps, but they are very quick.

1.Start Windows and choose the installation that is currently working from the Boot Menu and continue into Windows.

2. IMPORTANT: Backup up all your documents because the next steps will completely erase your hard drive, so all data will be lost forever unless you back it up first.

3. If you cannot access the files from your previous installation of XP you must take ownership of those files first, then back them up:

4. Open Windows Explorer, click My Computer, and click on the Tools menu, then Folder Options, then the View tab.

5. Under “Hidden files and folders”, chose to Show them. Uncheck the box next to “Hide protected operating system files”, and click Yes to confirm, then OK to exit.

6. Browse the root directory of your C: drive, and make a copy of the boot.ini file in the same area as a backup security. Next, open the original boot.ini file with Notepad.

7. Look for the [operating systems] section. This is the area shown on the Boot Menu and will probably show at least two lines, each reflecting a different installation of Windows XP. It should look similar to this:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WI... Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WI... Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

Note: If you have XP Home, it will indicate “Microsoft XP Home” above instead. This does not affect any of the subsequent steps.

8. In order to tell the two installations apart, we need to modify the portion in quotes, which is the description you see on boot-up. For example, you might change them to:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WI... Windows XP Professional X" /fastdetect

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WI... Windows XP Professional Y" /fastdetect

Note the “X” and “Y” we’ve added to tell them apart in the boot menu. You can use anything you want in the quotes.

9. Save your changes to the boot.ini and restart your machine. Make a note of which installation of XP you want to keep. In our example, we want to keep the installation “Y” since that’s the one that is working correctly.

10. When the computer reboots, click on Start, then click Run, type in “msconfig”, and click OK. Select the BOOT.INI tab, and note the [operating systems] section again. Select the “good” installation, and click the “Set as Default” button and click OK.

11. Head back to the boot.ini on your C: drive, and edit it again with Notepad. Under [operating systems], delete the line that will no longer be used, leaving only the line reflecting your “good” installation of Windows. Make note of the backslash and folder name of the “bad” installation that you are no longer using before you delete this line (you'll need this information later in step 15). Good idea to print a copy of the boot.ini for reference.

12. In the example below, the bad folder name is “\WINDOWS” since I am now using the installation in the “\WINDOWS2” folder. Again, look for the folder location immediately after the partition number such as in this example:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WI... Windows XP Professional X" /fastdetect

13. Save the changes to your boot.ini file, and restart your computer. You should not be prompted with a boot menu and the correct version of Windows XP should load automatically.

14. IMPORTANT: If you have not yet backed up your documents, do so now! If you make a mistake on the next step, you could lose some of your documents.

15. Recall the folder of the “bad” or “old” installation of XP from step 11. This installation is no longer used, and the duplicate Windows files are simply taking up space on your hard drive. Since you are now using a different installation, you are free to delete these files.

16. In step 11, I removed the line that pointed to the “\WINDOWS” installation location. Note that this may vary for you. At this point, I can delete the “Windows” folder since I am now using the “Windows2” folder for Windows XP. This will save a fair amount of hard drive space.

17. Once you've done this, you are done and dusted. Good luck.

It sounds like you didn't completely reformat your hard drive and left separate partitions behind. This help site gives instructions and screenshots of what you should see. I selected XP Pro but the steps are the same for XP Home::

http://www.windowsxpprofessional.windows...

In Part 2, the first screenshot shows the option to delete partitions. I suspect you'll see two partitions on your machine; one for C: drive and one for E: drive. You have to highlight first one, follow the prompts to press D then L, and then go back to highlight the remaining partition and press D and L again. When both partitions are deleted you should be able to install XP on the C: drive.

If you don't want to go through the entire reformat/reinstall you might be able to use something called Partition Magic (or a similar software) to remove the E: drive partition leaving just the C: drive. I have no personal experience using partitioning software:

I bought a house has an electric certificate stating its a TN-C-S system but have earth electrode in garden?

I bought a house has an electric certificate stating its a TN-C-S system but have earth electrode in garden?
can you see the main cable coming in.it will go in to the cable head, from this the live and neutral tails go to the meter then to your fuseboard.if your system is tnc-s,then at the right hand side of the cable head there should be a little box, slightly bigger than a match box, this is where the earth should be.,but your supplier has no obligation to provide you with an earth,so there might not be one.it sounds like some one has put a spike in to achieve an earth, but you would only do this after testing the supply in the house with an earth loop tester.even then there a certain factors to consider, you could be gettin an earth through your water or gas pipes, although nowadays this is not to be trusted,as mains supplies are being replaced by plastic.,i would suggest gettin a spark cuase if you dont know what you are doing it could be potentially lethal!
Reply:Forget it,

Your earth for your power at home is spiked in some onto your garden. It is perfectally normal and you need do nothing. Its just the way your electrics have been bonded.

Chill

Reply:TN-C-S is the newest form of earthing it could be your earth was originally spiked, but then given PME/ TNCS earth. Its really common to see what you have in villages and rural areas where the electricity is distributed via overhead lines, equally the inspector could have ticked the wrong box.

If you look on the cert there should be a Ze at source box this is usally below 0.35ohms on a TN-C-S.

If your really worried call the company who issued the cert and ask them.
Reply:TNCS or Protective Multiple Earthing regulations say that any earthed metal work outside the equipotential zone must be earth staked down this could be an oil line/tank or exposed gas pipe etc. it may be this you can see.

The TNCS earth connection will be obvious at your meter, just follow the earthing lead from your consumer unit it should go to the service providers neutral connection.
Reply:tn-c-s is the most common type where you nutral and earth share the same path out of your building. so you may not see it if you dont understand what your looking for.If the electrode in the garden is electrical it would have to be tested as part of the certificate so if you have any doubt contact whoever tested it and ask

Personally, I would find some XP or Vista discs, and wipe the harddrive. I do not work eheavily with PCs, Im better with Macs, but Im pretty sure that you could pretty easily start up from the disc. If not, call whoever made our comp and get them to come out and fix it... should be under warranty assuming you didnt mess with the comp too much.

Can any one give me any pointers on power flushing my c/h system?

You need a power flushing machine cost approx £700, or hire one for a couple of days, (that is how long it will take if you don't know how) £75 per day plus deposit, you probably won't do it right, (half the engineers don't do it, or know how), and will have to have it done properly, it costs in excess of £600 for british gas, most others at least £200 cheaper.

do you really need a power flush?if you do then as some of the others have stated,it would be best leaving it to an expert.i have a machine for flushing, and it took me a while to get used to it,so even if you hire one,and buy chemicals, you could be 200 quid out of pocket and still be no further forward.

Which is better/ cheaper forced central air vs Unicom high velocity C/A system?

In a nut shell says the squirrel. High velocity systems require that you dont have to tear apart any structure. real quiet. they work on the principal of aspiration, where hot and cold streams of cooled air enter a room creating gentle circulations without drafts. temps stay even from floor to ceiling, plus they can remove up to 30% of moisture from the air, then conventional systems, and helps reduce cooling cost. the squirrel is done, good luck

Is it ok to use an RCD on an TN-C-S system?

Not recommended to be used as a mainswitch, unless 100ma for overall (reduced) protection, best to fit a split board and fit 30ma for socket outlets, or use individual RCBO's. If you fit as mainswitch and have a fault which you are unable to clear you will have no power or lights which could be dangerous.

yes but get it fitted by electrician

Odds are that something on your machine is causing your problem. Start at the top of this list. Install the products one at a time. After you install each one, be sure to install all of their updates. Have each one complete a full scan before proceeding to the next one. One of these *should* fix your problem. Work down the list until your problem disappears. Keep in mind that everyone of these things is either free of charge or open source. That also means that the updates are free. Running the software with out the updates is the same as not running it at all. In addition to anti-virus software, you should also have anti-spyware software.

You should use more than one anti-spyware package because there is no one spyware package that will detect everything. Each one will pick up things that the others miss. Part of this is based on what gets submitted to the people who make the software which in turn is based on what the users encounter. There are so many that its hard to create a comprehensive list of everything out there that spies on you.

When you're done, be sure to go to Windows Update and apply ALL of the patches. Don't just run the "Express" updates. Run "Custom" and pick all of the software that's available to you. It make take several times before you no longer have patches. Once that's done, be sure to turn on your automatic updates. For Windows XP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306525. For Vista - http://www.microsoft.com/protect/compute...

Make sure that you're not running a cracked version of Windows or other software packages. Software doesn't get cracked for the benefit of humanity. It gets cracked because a hacker somewhere wants you run his software on your computer. That means he can use your computer to serve porn and send spam. Or capture your user names and passwords for identity theft.

I'm in the market for a 2.1 P.C. speaker system.Something in the 150.00$ range.Any suggestions?

If you want to save some money you can check out the Creative I-Trigue which cost $97 but there is a $30 rebate on them bringing it down to $67. There is also this set of JBL speakers, http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis...

Logitech has the Z-2300 set http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as... but the best speakers right on the edge of your budget would have to be the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 at $150, http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis...

If you haven't already, check out http://www.newegg.com or http://www.tigerdirect.com both have decent selections and good prices. Newegg is a little better on shipping but both are good. Also, I've never had any problems with Logitech stuff, speakers or otherwise. But if you want to spend some money and get something really good, the Klipsch mentioned above are pretty good too.

Is there a way to determine if there is mold in the A/C vents or duct system of my A/C-heating system?

When I walk in the office I smell a peculiar smell. I own my own office so there's no landlord to take care of it for me.

Is there an inexpensive way I could test to see if mold is the issue here?

Is there a way to determine if there is mold in the A/C vents or duct system of my A/C-heating system?
YOU CAN PICK UP A TEST KIT AT A BUILDERS SUPPLY AND TEST YOUR PLACE FOR MOLD.
Reply:If you only smell it in one room, such as your office, it could be a dead mouse and not mold. Try taking the vent cover off and looking in there with a very strong flash light and see if you can see anything that may be causing the problem.
Reply:If you have a smaller office the chances are that a residential style furnace and A/C unit services your needs. It is possible that condensation/water is remaining under the a/c coil and mold has set in.

Contact a local HVAC company and have them check the "A" coil for issues.
Reply:Buy you some air neutralizer and spray that on the intake of the handler for your central heat and air and let it go through the ducks and it will neutralize it.
Reply:Here is a web site that might help you.
Reply:You would have to get a contractor who can take air samples of the air in your ducts and have them analyzed.
Reply:If you have duct work you have mold in some form or another. Check the filter and have the coil cleaned this may help also they make a deodorizer that you can physically place in the return duct to kill the smell, I have never used it but I run into them all the time.
Reply:The Mold is Probably somewhere other than in your AV Ducts. Mold needs moisture The A/C %26amp; The heat both removes moisture. Mold can not grow in heat ducts or A\C ducts

It could be in the overflow pan of the A/C-heating system. Check and see if the drain on the overflow pan is stopped up.
Reply:Standards or Threshold Limit Values (TLVs) for airborne concentrations of mold, or mold spores, have not been set. Currently, there are no EPA regulations or standards for airborne mold contaminants.Molds produce tiny spores to reproduce. There is no practical way to eliminate all mold and mold spores in the indoor environment; the way to control indoor mold growth is to control moisture

There is substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface (e.g., sheet metal) ducts or on other components of your heating and cooling system. There are several important points to understand concerning mold detection in heating and cooling systems:

Many sections of your heating and cooling system may not be accessible for a visible inspection, so ask the service provider to show you any mold they say exists.

You should be aware that although a substance may look like mold, a positive determination of whether it is mold or not can be made only by an expert and may require laboratory analysis for final confirmation. For about $50, some microbiology laboratories can tell you whether a sample sent to them on a clear strip of sticky household tape is mold or simply a substance that resembles it.

If you have insulated air ducts and the insulation gets wet or moldy it cannot be effectively cleaned and should be removed and replaced.

If the conditions causing the mold growth in the first place are not corrected, mold growth will recur.

i hope this can be of help for you, be persistant in resolving the matter Good Luck!
Reply:I suggest getting an HVAC or Professional duct cleaning company to come out and take a look. They are really the only air quality specialits. Some of these companies have a small camera that can show you what is in your ductwork. Estimates for cleaning are usually free.
Reply:mold only grows where there is moisture. unless there is a water lead from a pipe that is trckling down into your ventilation system, i doubt mold is the source of the smell. look for a dead rat or something.
Reply:sorry to say you have to have a ac repair person come in and clean out the vents make sure their is no standing water in the unit this will make legionaries thats from stagnet water and it can kill you so no matter how you look at it get a hvac company in to clean it out if you have a indoor heater ac unit check the coils to see if they are full of dust and if you have filters on the unit change them every 2 weeks not mo. like the pack said to do

How can i remove Virus.Win32.Sality.q from C:\Program Files\System 32 directory??

I have Kaspersky Antivirus trial version, which detected and removed this virus from all (about 300) other locations(E:\, F:\ etc...)

Now it has detected the same virus "Virus.Win32.Sality.q" in 2 files of C:\Program Files\System 32 directory. And it says that it is unable to disinfect it. It gives an option to delete that file. But as u know, deleting (and even replacing it from somewhere else) any system file can cause the PC faliure to unboot as well as corruption of windows xp. so friends, can u tell me some easy or simple method to manually remove that virus from thos 2 files without formatting and reinstalling the windows???

Thanx in advance!!!

What is the return value of system() in c++ on windows xp?

If I call a program with a system command, will the return value of system() be whatever the program returned?

What is the return value of system() in c++ on windows xp?
Assuming you mean Microsoft Visual C++, the Help system says this (among other things I'm not quoting here):

If command [the command string] is not NULL, system returns the value that is returned by the command interpreter. It returns the value 0 only if the command interpreter returns the value 0.
Reply:the return value of system(); is an integer that is platform dependant. Although it usually returns 0 for a successful execution of said system() command and some other value indicating an error.

Now really, do you not know how to use Google? This took me 10 seconds to find....

I have my operating system in C drive and personal documents in D drive.I had formatted my OS and lost files.?

i am unable to access to my personal documents since i've made them private and formatted the system.plz help me out

I have my operating system in C drive and personal documents in D drive.I had formatted my OS and lost files.?
if you format your drive C , nothing happen your drive D . Keep your important files on D and format C drive.
Reply:If you only formatted your C:\ drive then your D:\ drive should be unaffected. If you accidentally formatted your D:\ drive as well then providing you have not written anything to it since the reformatting all you data should be recoverable.

Get a program like Testdisk and install it, With any luck you will be able to scan your D drive and recover the files.
Reply:so u have saved then in the ntfs partition. then there is a long procedure

Can not re install windows me. have formatted c drive system files start to copy then get suwin error . help?

suwin errors can occur when any of the following conditions exisit

• There are incorrect basic input/output system (BIOS) settings for a built-in peripheral device on your motherboard (for example, cache settings, CPU timing, hard disks, and so on).

• Your computer has bad or mismatched random access memory (RAM) or cache (for example, if you are using EDO and non-EDO RAM, or you are using different RAM speeds).

• The motherboard in your computer is not working properly.

To work around this behavior, try to slow down your computer by changing the BIOS settings. For information about how to change these settings, consult the documentation that came with your computer or contact the hardware manufacturer.

WARNING: If you change the BIOS settings for your computer incorrectly, serious problems can occur.

NOTE: Make the following changes, one at a time. After each change, save the setting, quit the BIOS, and then try to run Setup. If one step does not resolve the problem, try the next step, and so on. 1. Modify the bus mastering setting.

2. Modify the externalor internal cache setting.

3. Modify your RAM setting.

4. Modify other settings that are specific to your BIOS and that contribute to the speed at which your computer runs.

5. Disable the Level 1 and Level 2 cache from the BIOS Setup tool for the duration of Setup.

6. Disable the Ultra DMA setting (if applicable) for the hard disk or CD-ROM drive. For information about how to change these settings, consult the documentation that is included with your computer.

If the error message still occurs after you perform these steps, the hardware may be damaged. Contact your hardware manufacturer for assistance

i hope this has helped you

good luck

1995 ford tarus ...what causes noise in a/c heat system...sounds like vent duct cycling?
The car actually still runs? A 12 year old car has no business on the road. The a/c making noise is the least of your worries. I think it is time to euthanize that poor car.
Reply:Could be any number of things, like a loose flapper door or a leaf sucked into the system. Could even be a bad vacuum actuator. Get it checked out by a competent mechanic, or, if you are a DIY'er, start by checking vacuum leakdown in the system, and if it checks out okay, get ready to start pulling it apart. Good luck!

your system restore can contain PUPS, the only essentials are your windows system files which you can recover any time by running system file checker in case of emergency

Why does a virus-scan stop at C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION, could any one help me?

anti virus seems to run ok. but when reaching the mentioned point it just stops.for as much as 8 hours. i have tried avast, avg, and avira all the same

Why does a virus-scan stop at C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION, could any one help me?
System Volume Inforomation contains all kinds of programs data that is kept if you have system restore on. to delete most of the files, MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESTORE YOUR COMPUTER TO AN EARLEAR TIME. if you need to use system restore i don't recommend deleting these files

to delete the files and the restore point except for the most recent one, go to your start menu -%26gt; programs -%26gt; accessories -%26gt;system tools -%26gt; and disk cleanup, wait for it to load and collect the files that can be deleted, then after it is done, it will open a screen that tells you what can be deleted safely. when it shows that screen, go to the top and open the tab that says more options and there is a option that say to delete your system restore point, click clean up and you should be good, run your scan and it will go faster
Reply:Try running your scan in Safe Mode. Re-boot and continually press F8 during the boot sequence.

Reply:System volume information is part of your system restore.

Your system restore probably goes back a long time, or it has restored a very large file, probably over and over again.

Therefore this folder could be VERY big.

Reply:Restoration points for System Restore are stored in this folder. Why can't you access it? Because the folder properties prevent your user profile from viewing the contents due to user permissions. Follow the link below to view the contents (I do not condone doing the process unless you know what you're doing).
Reply:You can!

In Windows Explorer click [Tools] [Folder Options]
