How do I get rid of a virus called Downloader. zlob in path c./system volume information\-restore?

My virus scan keeps sending me a meesage telling me it has detected this virus. Each time I send it to the virus vault and delete it. I then run a new scan and it appears to be gone but it keeps coming back. I will get another message telling me the same thing. Sometimes within hours of my getting rid of it. I would really appreciate any help with this matter. Thanks

How do I get rid of a virus called Downloader. zlob in path c./system volume information\-restore?
C:/system Volume Information is where your System Restore files are located. Therefore, the malware is in your System Restore files which are basically locked by Windows so your security software cannot touch it, to remove the infected file.

The solution is easy. You simply need to delete all your old system restore points. To do so:

go to control panel %26gt; system %26gt; system restore %26gt; check mark "Turn off system restore on all drives" %26gt; apply %26gt; answer "yes" %26gt; OK %26gt; reboot. Then turn System Restore back on again.

Voila%26gt; Zlob gone!

Although you didn't say anything about if this is XP Home or Pro.

As to manually go into this folder you will find out that windows will not let you go into this folder without some permissions set. You will need to set yourself some permissions in order to go into this folder.

I know XP Pro you can do this, however, since I hardly never messed with Home (it sucks) I cannot tell you on this, I am sure that you'd have to be logged in under the ADMIN account in order to do this.

Good call jibbarjabar!
Reply:Zlob Trojan.

Google out and download SmitFraudFix.

Oh and before you run SmitFraudFix, disable System Restore.

Reply:Viruses are often found in that folder, so it will survive system restores. Try manually deleting it, and finding out which file is giving you this virus. Manually delete the program with the folders etc, clicking to do anything that has a virus is risky.

1st is to use an anti virus software... what i can recommend is you use NOD 32 or KASPERSKY

or you could just manually delete from the directory

go to the directory where the virus is lodged then delete it manually

thanks and God Bless
