How long generally does it take to fix the A/C system in a car or truck?

I know it depends on the problem but if say it just needs more freon or whatever. Is it done in a couple of hours or is it a full day thing?

Thanks

If it is just a recharge, it would take about a half an hour or so. First the excess freon needs to be taken out. Then you have to put the system into a vacuum for fifteen minutes. Then it is charged which doesn't take too long. Be careful not to overcharge system if you are doing it yourself.
Reply:Most shops would do the job in an hour or so.

.

But if they have to first find out what is wrong, then it could take all day.

But most shops will require that you leave the car in the morning and pick it up later.
Reply:If it is a freon issue, if there are no leaks in the system, once a tech gets the job and does diagnosis, then adds freon...maybe 2 hours, depending how thorough he is or how well he knows the AC system.
Reply:if you just need it re-charged it should only take around an hour, maybe less,if its not working though and they have to check for leaks ,id plan on leaving with them for a while, sometimes it can take hours to find leaks in a system, but for a re-charge they usually can do this while you wait on it,good luck with it hope this helps.
