I have a physical C: drive of 80 gig, and an extended partition of 3 gig, which system made boot partition,?

I want to take some of the space from the C: drive and add it to the extended bootable E: drive, so the system can breath a little bit easier.

Does anybody know of any open source software that will allow you to fiddle around with the hard drive and partitions, to change size etc.

I don't know if it is open source, but this is very good and free.

Reply:There are some utilities that could do that. The one that comes to my mind is called Partition Magic and you can buy it at:

Reply:It depends on your operating system primarily. I believe that you would have to reformat the hard drive to change the partition sizing. Western Digital used to have a formating utility for their drives called EZ drive. Find out what manufacturers hard drive that you have in your system and go to that manufacturers website for help. Any type of "software" that would "play" with these partition sizes would be very suspect towards instability in the system I believe. I could be wrong though. I do not believe this would help your system to breathe any easier though. You are probably better off not doing anything to this drive. I may be easier to add a second hard drive to the system either internally or with a Firewire or USB external drive. Good Luck
