What is the A.C.E.S. system in Ranbow Six Vegas 2?

I was just wondering if you just level them up or if they do anything for the specific gun type (marksman gives you sniper bonuses etc.) also whats the difference between assault and CQB?

What is the A.C.E.S. system in Ranbow Six Vegas 2?
The ACES system in Vegas 2 involves gaining experience points, thus unlocking many customization options for your character.

Simply killing terrorists by any means earns you general experience points. Accumulate enough exp. and you will level up to the next rank. Each rank unlocks various clothing/armor for your character.

There are also 3 categories of specific exp. points. You get marksman exp. when you kill in ways a marksman would kill (head shots, long range, etc.) Like the name implies, CQC (Close quarters combat) exp. is gained by killing at close range. This includes killing enemies from behind or with blind fire. You earn assault exp. by killing enemies that are behind cover or holding riot shields. Using grenades and C4 effectively will also earn you assault exp.

Each specific category has it's own level up system as well. Marksman unlocks sniper rifles and accurate ARs. CQC unlocks SMGs and shotguns. Assault unlocks other assault rifles and light machine guns.

I would say the ACES system is definitely a positive aspect of the game. I loved the first one and so far I'm pretty impressed with part 2.

Cheers
